Peace and tranquility in an amazing space.

The Dome was constructed out of straw bales in a timber frame, then rendered with mud and clay from the surrounding earth. The vision of the design was to create a seamless domed interior and a smooth circular roof, veering away from the typical angles and edges in contemporary buildings.  The result is a flowing and ethereal open space with dynamic acoustic qualities, making it not only a wonderful and relaxing holiday home, but an inspiring creative space for artists of all disciplines.

This is an off grid house.  Solar panels on the roof capture the sun's energy for both electricity and water heating.  In times of low sun the woodburner helps to boost the hot water supply.  Rain is caught off the roof and pumped up to a tank which then gravity feeds the water back down to the house.  There is a UV filter installed to further purify the water supply which is good for drinking.  We encourage guests to minimise their waste, especially from plastics, and drink for our supply rather than plastic bottles although recycling bins are provided.  Food waste can be kept and fed to our resident pigs.  

Amenities

There is a main bedroom with queen size bed and ensuite, a second bedroom with two singles (which can be connected to create a double) and a set of children's bunk beds.  In the lounge room there is a fold out sofa which fits another two.

The insulating qualities of the straw bale walls keep the Dome cool in summer and warm in winter, but during those chilly nights the cosiness can be increased by lighting the wood burner with the logs provided. 

There is a fully equipped kitchen with gas oven, 4 burner stovetop, fridge/freezer, tea and coffee facilities and all cooking utensils. 

The large handmade dining table is fitted with castors and custom built with a curve enabling it to be rolled to the edge of the room to create more open space.

Wooden shutters and blinds on all the windows and doors enable the house to become completely private.  Open them up to reveal the forest and watch kangaroos grazing on the lawn outside.
